Allow me to provide both a brief explanation and apology concerning this particular strip. Eddie's enthusiasm at working with an "accredited mad scientist" (man, that's a funny phrase) like Dr. X is a bit of self-mockery at how thrilled I was to have the approval of Kyle Carrozza, a cartoonist whom I find far more skilled and experienced than myself, to use one of my favorites of his characters as a guest star in a Dr. X story.

Kyle, Sorry if this seems like one of those obnoxious sorts of fanfiction in which some measly little wannabe artist pairs his character up with a famous character, only to have the famous character fawning and drooling over how brilliant and perfect the nobody character is. Rest assured, we'll most likely find out soon that Eddie is much better at what he does than X is. And it just seemed part of Eddie's hyperactive, energetic personality to be so excited to meet X (or really anybody, for that matter). Similarly, I hope you don't mind me making Eddie a college student in this story. It just seemed to make more sense as I can't recall any middle schools that run internship programs!
